Who We Are:

The Global Data department collects and analyzes billions of data points which are used by over 325,000 Bloomberg clients around the world. In the Content Acquisition team we lead the development and implementation of web crawling solutions that drive this process by automating the acquisition of this information.

We work closely with domain specialists in Global Data, who cover a variety of financial products, to understand their information, devise, and deliver solutions by leveraging a technology stack that is comprised of best-in-class proprietary and open-source components. As a result, our work has a direct impact on their product and team by expanding and maintaining coverage, reducing manual effort, improving data quality and reducing “time-to-market” for clients.

We’ll trust you to:

• Collaborate and consult with colleagues in Global data to understand their domain
• Design, prototype and implement technical solutions to address real business needs.
• Help transform how Global Data goes about acquiring and monitoring incoming data in a smarter and more efficient manner.
• Collaborate with members of the Engineering team in the development of data acquisition tools that aim to automate and/or manage the multiple content collection processes that drive data acquisition in Global Data.
• Collaborate with a team that looks to develop a strategy for how we stay ahead in a competitive market landscape.

You need to have:

• A bachelor’s degree in an analytical discipline. Computer science preferred.
• Experience in running technical projects and leading them through a full life-cycle.
• A capability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced ever changing environment.
• Great interpersonal skills and the capacity to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with project stakeholders, management and your peers.
• Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.

We’d love to see:

• Experience with markup and scripting languages, particularly HTML, XML, XBRL, Python, and exposure to SQL.
• Familiarity with Business Intelligence (BI) and the ability to take data from numerous, disparate data sources to extract and transform it into meaningful and actionable information.
• Prior experience with web crawling technologies is a plus.
• Familiarity with project management, business/process analysis techniques.
