Our team of experts generates incisive analysis, interactive charting, and extensive databases on the Bloomberg Terminal. Our work gives trading and investment professionals insight into the state of industries and markets, and where they may be heading.

What is the role?

• Bloomberg is looking for a Japanese-language research editor based in Tokyo.

You will work with native Japanese professionals writing financial and economic analysis under deadline pressure. You will edit to style while helping writers present creative and insightful research in a manner that's accessible to the general reader. You're able to quickly turn jargon-filled, complex statements into clear prose.
You will also work with English-language analysts to, among others, help translate some of their research into Japanese.
Collaboration with various teams, often across several markets, is critical to our success and successful candidates are those who thrive under such conditions.
You will be part of a small team that's building a new feature within the ever-evolving Bloomberg Intelligence product, hence flexibility is important.

We'll trust you to:

Edit and publish Japanese-language research
Translate English research into Japanese
Edit copy to Bloomberg style while ensuring accuracy and compliance
Maintain the quality of our coverage across a wide range of research on topics including companies, policy, litigation, markets, strategy and credit
Collaborate with other departments such as Bloomberg News and BNEF

You need to have:

• Extensive Japanese-language editing experience in the financial services industry or financial news
• Outstanding communication skills in both English and in Japanese
• Familiarity with equity or credit research, or experience in financial news
• Experience working with analysts or with financial journalists
• The ability to collaborate with a wide range of individuals and to keep calm while on deadline

We'd love to see:

• Lengthy experience at brokerages or fund managers
• Experience editing for a major wire service
• Experience editing online content
• Familiarity with the Bloomberg system
