We are seeking for a Breaking News Editor in our Tokyo bureau.

To join our Breaking News Desk, you will need to meet real-time deadlines and to write breaking-news stories on business and general-interest topics, ranging from company earnings, stock market reports, merger and acquisition news and politics to natural disasters and strikes. You will transform news releases and finding financial details to immediate real-time headlines and work within a high-pressure team environment, in which the delay of a second or less can spell the difference between a win and a loss.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, monitoring government statements, company releases and news portals in both Japanese and English; sending original headlines and short stories based on split-second news judgement; monitoring other media and writing news summaries.You need to have:

• A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• 2-3 years of journalism experience
• Knowledge of the economy, financial markets and business
• Strong news judgment; ability to recognize news that is significant to markets
• Experience of working in a real-time news environment is highly desirable
• Fluency in English and Japanese is a must, especially the ability to read and understand Business News.
