The Federal Reserve, the world’s most powerful central bank, is set to start lowering interest rates later this year after its most aggressive campaign to tame inflation since the early 1980s. When will policymakers have enough confidence the inflation battle is won to make the first cut? How will factors including a looming presidential election, persistent price pressures and easing financial conditions affect the path of policy? And what does a potential change in the White House mean for the Fed and its leadership?
These questions are driving minute-by-minute decisions in financial markets and governments around the world, while also determining the livelihoods of millions of consumers and businesses.
The Fed is core to Bloomberg, whose readers closely follow every announcement and utterance by the central bank and its 19 policymakers.
