Our Regulatory and Policy group drives the development and implementation of strategies pertaining to legislative and regulatory issues affecting Bloomberg -with a particular emphasis on U.S. financial services regulatory affairs. Bloomberg business and product divisions will depend on you to partner on commercial and strategic responses to evolving regulation and market structure. On any given day you'll draft position papers on proposed regulations and legislation or conduct discrete research projects on pending issues. Development and maintenance of relationships with key officials across the US financial services regulators, Capitol Hill, their staffs, and outside associations and organizations will be key to your success.
Please note this position will sit either in our DC or New York offices.
We'll also trust you to:

  • Research, analyze and make recommendations/draft strategic option memos/presentations/working papers on legislative and regulatory issues which may provide threats or opportunities to our business
  • Assess, engage and influence legislative and regulatory policy issues that could potentially impact Bloomberg
  • Draft strategic position papers, issue briefs, talking points, sample letters and correspondence on a variety of policy issues on financial services (securities, banking and derivatives) regulatory policy
  • Attend and prepare communications from relevant hearings or open regulatory meetings
  • Monitor and inform management of developments which may affect the financial services businesses.

You'll need to have:

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in legal or policy work in the financial services industry or representing financial services clients
  • A JD required
  • Experience in working with financial regulators, including the Securities and Exchange Commission, Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Federal Reserve Board or US Treasury Department
  • Significant experience with the Dodd-Frank Act and federal and state financial services regulations
  • Excellent organizational abilities and can manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • The ability to collaborate and partner with internal teams and build strong lasting relationships
  • The ability to balance immediate and long-term priorities
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, strong negotiation and consensus building skills
