Bloomberg Government seeks an information technology (I.T.) analyst to join a team of federal contracting experts producing original, focused content about how and what the U.S. government buys.

The analyst's primary responsibilities will be to spot the biggest trends in federal budgets and contract spending, identify and analyze federal business development opportunities, size markets, and provide forecasting signposts.

The ideal analyst will:

  • Understand how federal contractors sell -- and how agencies buy -- I.T.
  • Be able to summarize key trends in budgets, legislation, mergers and acquisitions, and technology that are driving change in federal I.T.
  • Understand the data and intelligence that federal contractors need at each stage in the business development lifecycle -- from market identification and trend analysis to opportunity assessment, capture management and the bid and proposal phases
  • Work with clients to identify and define key markets
  • Create and present concise slide decks for publication, in webinars, at events and at in-person sessions with clients
  • Produce written reports, ranging from 300 to 1,500 words, quickly and with minimal editing
  • Work closely across all parts of Bloomberg LP, including other government contracts analysts, news, product, data and web teams

Qualifications

  • BA in economics, finance or related field, or equivalent work experience;
  • Substantial experience analyzing I.T. in the federal market
  • Substantial experience working with business development at federal contractors
  • Mastery of federal contracts and opportunities databases
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal budgets, including the President's budget request and the Congressional budget cycle
  • Strong quantitative skills and a superior writing ability to translate multiple forms of data into actionable business intelligence.
  • An ability to present and explain complex analysis in an intuitive manner
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills working within a team
  • Able to thrive in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrable attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Accustomed to open-plan office setting
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Maintain an active work-related social media presence and be willing to contribute to Bloomberg and outside media.
